Emergency Medical Services

Areas Served

The River Delta Fire District proudly provides pre-hospital care services for the unicorporated areas of Isleton, and Walnut Grove and to the citizens within  the River Delta Fire District.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Division

These services are managed and coordinated by the Department's Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Division. This division is managed by Fire Chief Paul Cutino and EMS Officer/Clinical Coordinator Pam Dodson

EMT Expanded Scope

A new California state mandate requires emergency medical technicians to receive advanced training that brings them closer to the skill level of paramedics.

The training will enable California EMTs to administer and use naloxone, epinephrine and a glucometer, according to the California Emergency Medical Services Authority. Naloxone, or Narcan as it is commonly referred to, is administered to counteract the effects of an opioid overdose. Epinephrine is used in cases of anaphylaxis or severe allergic reaction, and a glucometer measures blood sugar. Every River Delta Firefighter is fully trained in the administration of Narcan, Epinephrine and in the use a glucometer, pulse oximeter as well as an iGel advanced airway device.

The iGel device is used to protect a patient’s airway during CPR. Our crews have already successfully utilized these skill sets while treating patients By adding the expanded scope capability to our EMS bags will save lives, especially due to our district’s rural location.  “It’s a great thing,” Chief Cutino said. “Anytime we can expand the level of service we can give to our community the better we serve the community.”
