Response Time Statistics
Our primary mission and main focus are responding to emergency calls for service. Our response times to emergency calls are critical to the outcome of the event.
River Delta Fire District places great emphasis on our units driving safely and efficiently to all emergency calls. Our single fire station 94 is strategically located so that it can access our most populated areas within the district as well as being located near the Highway 12 and 160 corridors. This location is an important component to an effective response time.
The graphs illustrate our average response times over the past few years. These times help us see if we are close to meeting our objectives and looking for any trends and ways to improve our response.
Cascade of Events Leading to a Response Time
A good response time is the first step in the mitigation of an emergency event. The second step and equally as important is having the appropriate number of properly trained personnel on scene to effectively manage and mitigate the emergency. At the close of 2018 we were down to 24-line personnel, from a high of 42 in 2016. The positions that we have lost have been through attrition as well as the district going through significant personnel and management changes within the last two years. It is our goal to increase our staffing number back to 40 to have 6 firefighters on duty at all times. This allows for 6 firefighters to be assigned to two engines with one Battalion Chief serving as the shift supervisor each day.
